ZSF, MPAC sign MoU to empower the visually impaired
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) and Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation (ZSF) are collaborating to empower visually impaired Muslims in the areas of education and knowledge acquisition.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday in Lagos. While the Operations Manager of the ZSF, Alhaji Maruuf Ahmed, signed on behalf of the foundation, Alhaji Disu Kamor, the Executive Chairman of MPAC, signed on behalf of the centre.
Under the arrangement, each of the two organisations is required to share the costs of procuring the equipment and accessories, as well as other associated responsibilities. Speaking at the signing pof the MOU, the Operation Manager of the ZSF, Alhaji Maruuf Ahmed, said that lack of adequate supports for the visually impaired persons was impeding their opportunities of skill and knowledge acquisition.
“The visually impaired Muslims, in particular, are facing increasing problems of accessing opportunity to learn and develop their religious knowledge. “This is due to difficulties of accessing Islamic educational materials. “We pray that Allah (SWT) will bless and enable both organisations to achieve our vision to make knowledge acquisition easier for our brothers and sisters,” Ahmed said.

The Renaissance reports that both ZSF and MPAC shared a common vision of working towards addressing the welfare and empowerment issues, especially for the visually impaired Muslims. They are doing this through intervention initiatives that will project the beauty of what is possible when Muslim organisations work together with shared values, commitment on community and social projects.
Towards achieving the above vision, MPAC and ZSF are signing a memorandum of understanding to kick start the intervention project of providing educational and empowerment materials to the visually impaired persons.
The Renaissance reports that the equipment and accessories to be provided include the following under the arrangement include: Braille Embosser machine, computer system and printer. Others are scanner, scanner reader (Abbey fine reader professional), stabiliser and anti-virus.
